DNA Research

DNA RESEARCH - Is an essential component in the research of Chamberlain pedigrees. The WCGS maintains a data base of greater than 100 Y chromosome DNA profiles. This information in the form of
25 marker profiles of allele values, a number that has been found to be necessary to make accurate comparisons among haplotypes.

Most of the early Chamberlain immigrants are represented in our database, making it possible for persons who are uncertain of their ancestry to confirm, or rule out, a descent from one of the known immigrants. WCGS urges all researchers of the surname to obtain a Y chromosome DNA profile in order to facilitate identification of ancestral lines and provide a check on the validity of documented lineages.

To learn more about our current research, read our newsletter of Chamberlain DNA Studies. For additional information or for instructions on how to obtain a DNA profile, interested persons should
contact the WCGS Group Administrator of DNA research at DNA@chamberlain-society.org.
